FAV: Satin Pillow/Foam Soft Rollers

It was wash day for me last weekend (Friday, October 25,2013). I was extremely lazy so I ended up washing my hair around 8 or 9 p.m. I detangled and split my hair into two sections. I washed and conditioned my hair using ORS Olive Oil shampoo and conditioner. I washed and conditioned each section separately. I am 3 months post. I finally added my leave in conditioner which is Cantu Shea Butter. I kept my hair into the two ponytails and tucked the ends. I left it in over night with my plastic cap on. The next morning I attempted to sit under the dryer, but it was too hot. lol. So I had no other choice but to blow dry it. Next I flat ironed my hair using silk elements heat protectant and my Chi flat iron.

I felt like styling it because I was fed up with the straight hair look. I pulled out my wonderful satin foam/pillow rollers and went to work. I parted my hair into 4 sections. I used 3 rollers going upward on each back section and 3 rollers going across on each front section. The technique that I use was wrapping the hair around the roller starting from the roots instead of rolling the hair with the roller starting from the ends. I know it sounds so confusing, but its easy. I tied them up into my satin scarf and  I left them in all Saturday and Sunday. Finally took the out on Monday morning. Sadly, it was foggy, humid, and sprinkles of rain. My creation was ruin. Luckily I have pictures to show it off. I have received many compliments about this style. It is very similar to wand curls. I have got many likes on Instagram and Facebook. I have received many questions from even my family and friends from back home about how I achieved this look. Thanks for all the love. My YouTubers will receive the first look on how to actually achieve the look. Video coming soon.

Enjoy the photos!

Hi my Nitraettes,

Yesterday in WALMART while grocery shopping I saw a girl with long hair. I didn't say anything to her I just looked and smiled. I smiled because I imagined it being me and now I see how it feels. The girl's hair was about bra strap length, but actually seeing it on someone else in person really opened my eyes more that we as black women are really starting to have longer hair. We are no longer the bald ones unless we chose to be. We may still wear our weave, but its our choice. We aren't the only ones though. I just thought I would share this simply because it was nice to finally see it in person instead of online. I can't see myself from behind me on a daily so I don't really know what it looks like.

Thanks for reading.

Maintaining my New Growth

I am currently at 22 weeks post as of Saturday, May 11,2013. I must say that this new growth isn't that easy, but it is a lot easier than it was when I was 16 weeks post. The first time it was all so new to me and I had never went without a relaxer (perm) for that long. However, now I have been doing some research, looking up tips and tricks and I finally figured out a way to maintain my new growth. I deep condition with either ORS conditioner or Mane and Tail Conditioner. I think rinse it out and apply my leave in which is Cantu Shea Butter. I love CSB. It smells so good. I apply in it a way simpler to applying a relaxer but not really that much in detail. I apply it to my roots first then the rest of my hair. By doing this step it helps to soften the new growth A LOT!!!!

I also moisturize with ORS moisturizing hair lotion and seal with olive oil. You do not have use any of these products but this is what works for me.

I have a video on my YouTube channel. Please go check it out if you haven't already.

Love Ya Lots, NitraBoo

21 Weeks Post

Hi my Nitraettes,

My last relaxer was December 8, 2012, I am currently at 21 weeks post. It has been an amazing stretch for me being that it is my first time. On last weekend I decided to wash my hair because it was itching like crazy.
